James 1:21-27

21Therefore aput away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with bmeekness the implanted word, cwhich is able to save your souls.

22But be ddoers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25But the one who looks into the perfect law, ethe law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, fhe will be blessed in his doing.

26If anyone thinks he is religious gand does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s hreligion is worthless. 27Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: ito visit jorphans and widows in their affliction, and kto keep oneself lunstained from the world.

James 2:17-26

17So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

18But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith mapart from your works, and I will show you my faith nby my works. 19 oYou believe that God is one; you do well. Even pthe demons believeand shudder! 20Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 qWas not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22You see that rfaith was active along with his works, and faith was completed sby his works; 23and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, tAbraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a ufriend of God. 24You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25And in the same way was not also vRahab the prostitute justified by works wwhen she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

1 John 3:22-24

22and ywhatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and zdo what pleases him. 23And this is his commandment, aathat we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and ablove one another, acjust as he has commanded us. 24 adWhoever keeps his commandments abides in God,
Greek him
and God
Greek he
in him. And agby this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

1 John 5:3-5

3For ahthis is the love of God, that we aikeep his commandments. And ajhis commandments are not burdensome. 4For akeveryone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the worldalour faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes amthat Jesus is the Son of God?
